What We Make
Africa gets one paragraph in most homeschool curricula — usually about poverty. We wrote what we wanted our own children to have instead: real geography, real history, and real missions-the story of what God is doing on the continent right now.

Geography & Missions-Complete

Why Kumasi

Kumasi is a city of two million people in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It is not a metaphor. It's where Kai'Ros House lives.Kai'Ros House began with seven children. Today it cares for twenty-two, and pays the wages of seven full and part-time caregivers who feed them, teach them, and sit up with them when they're sick. Our family has carried that cost, with Pastor Otchere and his wife, Mercy, administering the work on the ground.One family can carry a house that size for a while. Not forever, and not while it grows.So we built a company. Not an appeal — a company, with something worth buying. What we sell is the thing we know: curriculum that teaches children about a place we actually love, and why it matters to God.If you homeschool, or teach a Sunday school class, or want your children to know more of the world than a map can tell them, you're the reason this works. You buy something you'd have bought anyway. Twenty-two children in Kumasi eat.
Plain Talk about money
We'd rather tell you this up front than have you work it out later.Kumasi & Co. is a company, not a charity. When you buy something here, you are buying a product. You are not making a donation, and your purchase is not tax-deductible. Anyone who tells you otherwise about a store like ours is confused or hoping you are.What we sell, we sell through Kai'Ros International Technologies, our family's business. It pays taxes like any other company. The profit from what you buy goes to the work in Kumasi.Gifts are a different thing entirely. If you want to give rather than buy, that goes to Summit Bible Center, a 501(c)(3) organization. Those gifts are tax-deductible, they're receipted properly, and Summit's board directs them to the work at Kai'Ros House.Two doors, and we keep them separate on purpose. It's cleaner for you, and it's cleaner for us.Why a company at all? Because we would rather earn the money than ask for it, and because we think you should get something genuinely worth the price. An appeal asks you to give up something. A company asks you to trade for something. We'd rather trade.And what the money actually does: it feeds twenty-two children, pays seven caregivers, keeps a roof over a house in Kumasi and helps to finance getting the gospel to the Ghanaian people. Not overhead in Florida. Not a salary for a fundraiser. The house. The people. The Gospel.
Where we stand
We are a Christian family, and it shows in everything we make.Scripture in our materials is from the King James Bible. Definitions of doctrinal words come from Noah Webster's dictionary of 1828, because he wrote for a people who still expected words to mean something. We hold that a man is saved by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone — not by works, lest any man should boast.That conviction is not decoration on this curriculum. It shaped what we put in, what we left out, and how we asked the questions. "We also try to tell the truth about hard things — the slave trade, persecution, genocide — plainly, without graphic detail, and with a note to the teacher wherever a page needs one."We tell you this before you buy rather than after.
